Apple’s “one more thing” event on November 10, 2020, revealed the first Mac computers powered by the Apple M1 chip.

  1. Apr 14, 2021 M1 Mac users now have a new way to virtualize Windows on their machines. Parallels has officially released Parallels Desktop 16.5 today with native support for Apple Silicon, enabling users to run.
  2. After the configure process the Windows 10 will boot in the Parallels Desktop. That’s it, now you can use Windows 10 on your M1 Mac. As you know the Parallels Desktop for M1 Mac is still in Technical Preview and so there may be some bugs. Also, the Windows 10 ARM is an insider preview so don’t expect similar performance as Windows 10 PCs.
  3. Parallel Desktop 16 for M1 Mac Technical Preview has been launched as a beta to run ARM-based OS in a virtual machine on M1 Macs with Apple Silicon. You need a Parallels account to sign-in to check out the instructions and download the installation file. Even with the limitations, Windows 10 ARM works well with great performance and battery life.

Parallels is excited to see the performance, power efficiency, and virtualization features that are brought to the Mac with the Apple M1 chip. The transition to Mac with the M1 chip should be smooth for most Mac applications, thanks to Rosetta technology. Fortunately, Parallels Access™, Parallels® Toolbox, and Parallels® Client software worked smoothly as universal binaries even before Parallels rebuilt them. However, virtual machines are an exception and Parallels engineers proactively implemented native virtualization support for Mac computers with the M1 chip.
